RECOMMENDATIONS TO PARENTS

1

Parents are expected to cooperate with the School Authorities in enforcing regularity and discipline by seeing that their children come prepared for their day-to-day assignments and take active interest in the activities of the school.

2

Parents are informed that homework books, reports, recommendations/notices from teachers must be signed by them as a proof that they have taken note of them. Parents must meet the Principal or teachers only by prior appointment and adhere to the given time. Parents/Guardians are not allowed to see the children nor the teachers during working hours.

3

Applications/Letters, if any, should be made in writing on a clean A4 size sheet, addressed to the Principal and not to the Class Teacher.

4

PRIVATE TUITIONS ARE NOT ENCOURAGED. Extra help if necessary, will be arranged by the school Principal.

5

Parents must recognize and acknowledge the authority of the Management in matters of admission, dismissal and corrective measures for the efficient running of the school bearing in mind that the Management works entirely in the interest, welfare and in the lasting good of each and every student of St. Helena's School.

6

An attendance of 80% is compulsory for the consideration of promotion.

7

In matters of following rules and regulations framed by the School, parents found to be argumentative, meddlesome, disrespectful or non-cooperative shall be asked to withdraw their child from the school.

8

Parents are prohibited from giving tips to any of our support staff (peons, watchmen, ayahs).

9

The use of Mobile Phones is strictly prohibited for all, no matter who he/she might be while in the school premises. These shall be placed in the custody of the security at the gate or switched off.

10

No parent will enter a classroom or staffroom on any account, nor contact a teacher directly without the knowledge of the Principal.

11

No parent will be allowed to approach the Principal with the request to take the child away before the closing day of school.

Important

Parents and students who plead to reduce the carefully thought of unharmful corrective measures for disobedience of rules and various patterns of misbehaviour will not be given into. The school will have recourse to four complaint letters to parents, the fourth letter indicating a Negative Remark underlined in red against the column of conduct in Report Cards as well as their School Leaving Certificates.

Note: This will go totally against the concerned student.

Extra-curricular activities are mandatory and a necessary part of school education. Talent needs to be nurtured. At times these Extra-curricular activities are carried out (due to time constraints) after regular school hours. Co-operation and support from parents is imperative. Unpleasantness of any sort should not be the outcome through such school activities.

Special Note

It is very likely that a complacent attitude develops amongst students by the time they reach the senior section of school. This would make it difficult for the student to easily clear the Class VIIIth and IXth exams. In this regard, the school cautions you to be actively involved in your ward’s academics and exercise sufficient alertness throughout the year.
